Prepona Butterfly Decor, Real Butterfly Art, Black & Blue Butterfly Eings
This small butterfly figurine was created by me in my studio in London Ontario Canada. The wings are repurposed from a cruelty-free specimen of a Prepona butterfly which is a genus of Neotropical charaxine butterflies in the family Nymphalidae. They are strong fliers in tropical forests where they feed on fermenting fruits and animal dung. One side is blacknwith iridescent blue and.white stripe and the other side is beautiful tan with great dark markings. The feet have smooth balled up ends tonprotect surfaces it rests on from scratching. Stand it on its feet or display on the hindwings on its side in amonst plants or books.
Most of my specimens have been purchased from a licensed supplier in Ontario Canada
Handcrafted by me in my London Ontario Canada studio. Though my pieces are watertight, they are not 100% waterproof so care should be taken to not allow these to get wet.
Butterflies & Insects used in my pieces have been sustainably raised and bred on insect farms globally and play an important role in Conservation programs. Many governments and conservation programs (WWF & Nature Canada) teach sustainable practices of raising insects for economic purposes for livelihood rather than jobs that destroy rainforests such as slash and burn agricultural farming and logging. It is important to support such conservation programs that teach these sustainable economic alternatives
